Bob Tan Beng Hai, PJG, BBM
Mr Bob Tan was appointed to the Board of Jurong Engineering Limited as its Chairman on 1 December 2005. He is also the Chairman of ASCOTT Residence Trust Management Limited, SINGEX Holdings Pte Ltd and the Institute of Technical Education of Singapore. In addition, he is a Board Member of the Ong Teng Cheong Labour Leadership Institute, a Member of the Board of Governors of the Singapore Manufacturing Federation and a Council Member of the National Trade Union Congress (NTUC) Club Management Council. He is a Director of Sembcorp Marine Ltd, Singapore Post Limited, Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore and Sentosa Development Corporation. Mr Bob Tan was awarded the Friend of Labour Award in 2000, the Public Service Star Award in 2010, the NTUC Meritorious Service Award in 2013, the Meritorious Service Medal (Pingat Jasa Gemilang) at the 2017 National Day Awards and Distinguished Service Award at the 2018 NTUC May Day Awards. Mr. Bob Tan is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and the Singapore Institute of Directors.
MANAGING DIRECTOR AND CEO
Mr Masao Akamatsu was appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Jurong Engineering Limited on 1 April 2017. Mr Akamatsu has over 30 years of experience with IHI Corporation and its group of companies. Prior to joining Jurong Engineering, he was a Director and Chief Operating Officer of IHI Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. From 2011 to 2015, he was the General Manager of IHI Taipei Representative Office and President of IHI Taiwan Corporation. Mr Akamatsu joined Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co., Ltd, now known as IHI Corporation in 1985, and held leadership roles across various functions especially in the industrial heavy machinery business including the position of Deputy General Manager in the Logistics Systems and Steel Structures Operations and the position of General Manager in IHI Transport Machinery Co., Ltd. Mr Akamatsu graduated from Sophia University, Japan with a Bachelor of Arts in Law degree.
Mr Hiroshi Ide was the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Jurong Engineering Limited from April 2013 to March 2017 before he was promoted to his current position as Executive Officer of IHI Corporation and Vice President of Resources, Energy & Environment Business Area, Business Development & Sales, Strategy Management. He is now a non-executive Director of Jurong Engineering Limited. Mr Ide has held various key positions in Japan and abroad. He was the General Manager of the IHI Kuala Lumpur Branch in Malaysia from 2000 to 2007, General Manager of the International Strategic Planning and Coordination Department of IHI Japan from 2007 to 2009 and General Manager of the Corporate Sales and Marketing Department of IHI Japan from 2009 to 2012. Mr Ide holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Keio University, Japan and had completed the Advanced Management Programme at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in October 2012.
Andrew Lim Ming-Hui
Mr Andrew Lim Ming-Hui is a senior partner of Allen & Gledhill LLP, where he currently co-heads the Corporate Mergers and Acquisitions Department. He is recognised as a leading lawyer in his areas of expertise and has, over the course almost 30 years in legal practice, advised clients on numerous market-leading corporate and mergers and acquisition transactions. He also advises clients on corporate governance, regulatory and compliance matters. His clients include MNCs, listed and non-listed companies, financial institutions and private equity firms.
He currently also serves:
• as a Director of Singapore Press Holdings Limited;
• as a Member of the Board of Trustees of the National University of Singapore;
• as a Member of the Committee for Private Education (a Committee of the SkillsFuture Singapore Board);
• as a Director of Singex Holdings Pte Ltd; and
• as a Member of the Law Advisory Council of the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore.
Mr Lim holds both a Bachelor of Laws degree and a Master of Laws degree from the National University of Singapore, and is a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Directors.
Mr Takashi Koumi was appointed as a non-executive Director of Jurong Engineering Limited on 29 June 2018. Mr Koumi started his career with Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co., Ltd, now known as IHI Corporation in 1987, and he has over 31 years of experience with IHI Corporation and its group of companies. Mr Koumi has held positions in the Finance department and Corporate Planning department in IHI Corporation. He served as a Director of IHI Europe Ltd in London, from 2002 to 2007. He assumed the role of General Manager of Planning & Control Department of Resources, Energy & Environment Business Area of IHI Corporation from 2014 to 2018. Mr Koumi is currently the General Manager of Accounting Group, Finance & Accounting division of IHI Corporation. He graduated from Waseda University, Japan, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.
Mr Tomoyuki Kuwata was appointed as a non-executive Director of Jurong Engineering Limited on 1 April 2017. Mr Kuwata is the President and Chief Executive Officer of IHI Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. Since joining Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co., Ltd, now known as IHI Corporation, in 1989, Mr Kuwata held various positions in IHI Corporation. He served as a General Manager of Contract group, Project Management department in the Power Plant division from April 2005 to March 2007 and as a General Manager of Overseas Sales of the Nuclear Power division from April 2007 to March 2012. Mr Kuwata served in the Nuclear Power Operations of IHI Corporation first as General Manager of Overseas Project Promotion group, before he assumed the position of General Manager of Overseas Project department. He was also the General Manager of Recruit group in the Human Resources division before he was appointed Associate Director and Vice President of Nuclear Power Operations division. Currently, Mr Kuwata is the President of Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry Singapore. An engineer by training, Mr Kuwata holds a Master of Mechanical Engineering Degree from Waseda University.
